Volunteers required for Footpath Maintenance. It's just like a little bit of gardening but in Leicestershires beautiful Countryside!
We are recruiting more helpers to help keep the Leicestershire Round in pristine condition. As you may know we have a small dedicated team that keeps the prestigious Leicestershire Round in very good order. The Leicestershire Round will be forty years old next year ( a date for your diary June the 10th 2027) and the Leicestershire Footpath Association will be 140 years old. We will be celebrating 🍾 and the event details of which will be published later in the summer newslet

Tree Felling 2
With reference to my earlier post about tree felling in Burrough Wood/Dalby Hills, I've not been able to ascertain whether the permissive path will be closed over this coming weekend 11-12 July '26, despite contacting the Ernest Cooke Trust and not receiving a reply. Please be guided by the noticeboard on the Burrough Hill side of the wood, which will display a red closed sign if that's the case. An alternative route is shown on page 39 of the LR guidebook. Please see below

Tree Felling
Please be aware that the permissive path at Burrough Woods/Dalby Hills is currently closed due to tree felling for the next two weeks at least starting 6th July '26. Whether that covers the weekend is not known at this stage. The noticeboard on the Burrough Hill side of the entrance displays a red closed sign informing walkers the route is closed but I understand there isn't a sign on the Somerby side. Further enquires are being made to ascertain if the route will be open at
