This is former mining country, now part of the National Forest. The reclaimed spoil heaps are newly planted with trees. There are attractive views from the higher ground.

Items of interest Churches in Nailstone and Barlestone. In Nailstone church there is a monument to Thomas Corbett, a gentleman who was Sergeant of the Pantry to four Tudor monarchs. He fathered 19 children by his first wife and a couple more by his second. (Spare a thought for the first Mrs Corbett as you pass by!)

Please read the introduction to the original book updated for the web published walks.

The written description and map is a .pdf file which you can print and take with you on the walk.
